Why you'll love Pork Giniling
- It's quick and easy to make; it's ready in under 30 minutes and cooks in one pan. Perfect for busy weeknights!
- It uses simple and economical ingredients you probably already have on hand. It's a budget-friendly dish you'd want in your back pocket!
- The recipe can be easily halved for two or doubled for a large party.
- It makes for great leftovers. Store in airtight containers; they should keep well in the fridge for up to 3 days or in the freezer for up to 2 months.
- It's hearty, tasty, and sure to be a family favorite. Plus, the addition of quail eggs makes it fun to eat!
This pork giniling with quail eggs is slightly different from the giniling na baboy recipe we also have in our recipe archive. Along with adding quail eggs, I also swapped the fresh tomatoes I usually use with tomato sauce and banana ketchup to add a hint of sweetness.
Both versions are equally delicious and are a satisfying meal that's sure to hit the spot!
Cooking tips
- Cut the potatoes and carrots into a uniform size to ensure even cooking.
- You can omit the banana ketchup and add more tomato sauce if you prefer to tone down the sweetness.
- Add diced red and green bell peppers to boost color, texture, and nutrients.
- Want to make it extra special for a party? Stir in ยฝ cup or so of pineapple tidbits.
Serving suggestions
- Pork giniling is the ultimate comfort food! It's delicious as a main dish for lunch or dinner with a side of steamed rice.
- It also makes a tasty pandesal or sandwich bread filling for a midday merienda.
- You can turn leftovers into an egg omelet for a hearty breakfast meal.

Thank you for your recipe. I love to cook and I tell you, nothing beats home cooking. My co workers go
bananas ( nakakaloka !) when i got lumpia shanghai for lunch. Someone always reminds me of a pot luck day weeks in advance so i can whip up something special like Lumpia and Mango Float.
Im curious if you got a good recipe for lumpia shanghai. I might be able to swing the flavor/taste to yours as Im getting bored with mine.
If you also have an awesome recipe for siopao. I can't figure the dough. Its hard and never tasty like the ones i used to buy from the only chinese rest in Dipolog, and that's like 20 years ago. The dough was sweet and moist. I use super lambot adobo pork meat with extra saude and a quarter of hard boiled egg.

Can I use banana ketchup instead of tomato sauce?
Lalaine Manalo says
Do you mean just banana ketchup and no tomato sauce? I guess you could if you want but the dish might become overly sweet.
Min Yee says
Hi there, whats the brand of tomato sauce that you used? If I can't find banana ketchup, can I add more tomato sauce? Many thanks
Lalaine says
You can skip the banana catsup. I like mine with a hint of sweetness so if I use only tomato sauce, I add sugar to taste.

Never heard about banana ketchup before I read this recipe. Where can I find such ketchup? I would be so happy to get this recipe a try!
Lalaine says
Hi Slyvie
It's available in most Asian stores oe you can order in online on Amazon. If you cant find it, just substitute tomato ketchup and add a bit a bit of sugar to the stew. Hope you do give it a try, it's delicious!

Presentation wise, maganda gamitin ang quail eggs. Pero dahil bitin kami sa quail eggs, chicken eggs ang gamit namin pag nagluluto ng giniling. Hehe. ๐
