Remember all my big talk about being more deliberate about my content and my blah-blah-blah about scheduling what I cook weeks in advance? Well, scrap that! I did have a list of recipes I was going to work on this weekend but then I saw photos of these leche puto on my FB newsfeed today and all plans were kicked to the curb. I just had to make them ASAP!
I know how to make smooth, velvety leche flan and I've learned the secret to soft, fluffy puto months ago but how to put them together into one sweet treat in two delectable layers? I had to look to Google for answers. And sure enough, I found after a quick search what seems, judging from the number of complimentary comments, to be a solid recipe/tutorial at Heart of Mary. And guys, puto flan is just one of the delicious things you'll find there. ย I am totally blog-crushing! I've never seen so many cakes and dessert recipes I want to try in one place! These puto flan came out so perfectly soft, fluffy and yummy, I have high hopes for herย special ensaymadaย to be just as wonderful.

Hi,
Can i put lime zest and lime extract instead of kalamansi? If so, how much of the extract should i put? Should the extract of one regular lime too much?

1 1/4 ounce of condensed milk or 1 1/4 can of condensed milk? I only used 1 1/4 ounce and it turned out still sweet and yummy
Lalaine says
Hi Mercedes,
It's actually 1 can which is 14 ounces. I apologize for the confusion, I corrected the recipe card to make this clearer. Thank you so much for bringing it to my attention.
Cristina says
Hello po, i tried this today but the flan turned out really sweet. I changed the recipe from 1&1/4 cup condensed milk to 1/2 cup condensed milk and 3/4 cup evaporated milk as i know that putting only condensed milk will be really sweet.
Is there a reason why itโs only condensed milk? When i make leche flan i use condensed and evaporated milk. Why only condensed milk on this puto flan?
Need help please ๐
Lalaine says
Hello Christina,
Hindi linalagyan nang evaporated like leche flan dahil you want it to set quickly nang hindi ma-overcook yung puto sa baba.
Vangie says
What is 1 14 ounces in the measuring cup?
Lalaine says
Hello Vangie,
It's 1 1/4 cups which will be 10 ounces. ๐

You said in one comment that you didnโt alter Heart of Maryโs recipe. But when I checked it, hers is 1 1/2 tsps baking powder while yours is 4 1/2 tsps. So, which one?
Lalaine says
Hi Jec,
The Heart of Mary's recipe uses self-rising flour and 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder but I used regular all-purpose flour so I had to increase the amount of baking powder to make up for the baking powder already in self-rising flour. It really is the same, I just basically made my own self-rising flour by combining flour and baking powder.

i tried this recipe last night, but the flan was not successful. Maybe because of the molder that I used? Plastic na molder kasi ang gamit ko. Reason ba yon na hindi buo ang flan ko? Please help!!
